The Wandering Vegan: A Guide To Vegan Travel

How vegan-friendly is a particular country? A city? That is going to be the driving question for a series of articles I will be working on for the duration of my trip. Of course, many countries have vegan/vegetarian restaurants within their borders- it's just a matter of looking them up and hunting them down. However, that isn't the point of these articles. My goal will be to provide insight into how easy it is to just be anywhere in a particular country and find decent vegan food. As a backpacker, I am not necessarily looking for 5-Star culinary cuisine...but I also don't want to be eating plain crackers for the next 7 months. As I explore the globe I will do my best to take notes on the vegan-friendliness of each country's culinary smorgasbord and test the waters for other wandering vegans. It wont be all sunshine and vegan cupcakes, as my mishap in Mongolia highlights, but as veganism continues to grow vegan travel information will become more and more necessary. There isn't really a lot of it out there, so stay tuned for my vegan adventures! But be warned, some will be more palatable than others...
